New Subaru BRZ 2017 Unveiled
If you are considering a Subaru BRZ for sale, you are likely to be keen to know details about the upcoming release of the updated 2017 model. While new Subaru BRZ review information has been limited, with the unveiling of the new model in the U.S, drivers can expect new insight that is sure to whet their appetite.
Aesthetic Changes to the 2017 BRZ:
The Updated model is due to hit our showrooms later this year and has some subtle changes compared to the current Subaru BRZ for sale. The changes are less radical compared to the updates on the Toyota 86. The differences are largely concentrated on the front and rear of the vehicle. At the front, the model will have bolder LED daytime lights with a reshaped bumper that has more aggressive detailing.
In the United States, all the new BRZ trim levels are fitted with an aluminium colour coded spoiler at the rear as standard. There is also new aesthetic touches above the license plate and new LED tail lights at the rear. The top of the range models also have 17 inch 10 spoke alloys and a new 4.2 inch multifunction display, which displays braking force, water and oil temperature, lateral Gs and steering angle. There is also a stopwatch function. Inside the cabin, there is also a revised climate control panel, new embroidery detailing on the front seats and a redesigned steering wheel with audio controls.
Under the skin, the BRZ has also had some body changes. The rigidity of the model has been improved by additional reinforcements of the strut tower braces, transmission cross member, and rear wheel housings. The model will also have a larger rear stabiliser bar, updated dampers, and springs.
The engine shared with Toyota 86, has been updated. The four cylinder 2.0 litre boxer engine now has an increased output of 153 kW for six speed standard manual variants. The manual models also have a new reduced 4.3:1 final drive ratio and a Torsen limited slip diff. Buyers in the U.S will also have the option of a new performance package for the manual models which includes Brembo callipers, Sachs shock absorbers and larger disc brakes.
While the official Australia Subaru BRZ price and spec details have yet to be confirmed, the U.S model does provide an insight into what we could expect here. Subaru Australia communications manager, David Rowley, has confirmed that we will see the updated Subaru BRZ in our showrooms during the last quarter of this year. This means that we are sure to see further details about the model in the coming weeks and months.
