While the current model Subaru WRX for sale has a lot to offer potential buyers, Subaru enthusiasts are keen to find out what developments will occur in the future. Fortunately, Subaru has recently revealed the updates for the 2016 Subaru WRX. Perth WA drivers will find that the changes to these iconic models are certainly not to be considered minimal.
The Updates to the models come less than a year after the fourth generation new Subaru WRX for sale was launched on the Australian market. The differences in the updated model are immediately apparent, with the prime focus being a new media screen. This screen has been rolled out across the new Liberty, Impreza and Outback models and will be offered in two different sizes.
The entry model, which is seen in the WRX is a 6.2 inch screen, offering Bluetooth phone pairing, audio streaming and smartphone connectivity. The screen will also provide the display for the reverse view camera equipped as standard.
The 7.0 inch version of this new screen will be available on the WRX premium models and STi variants. This model will also feature dual USB inputs, satellite navigation, touch gesture controls and text message read out reply functions. This will also be paired with a premium nine speaker sound system with Harmon/Kardon amp.
Other changes to the new Subaru WRX, Perth WA drivers are likely to notice are the new 18 inch alloys on the WRX premium. The current model Subaru WRX for sale features 17 inch wheels on the local market variant. It is rumoured that the American market will see limited models which will add features such as leather trim, eight way powered driver’s seat and low beam LED headlights. These features are already available on the Australian Premium model. The U.S market will also see an STi model which has a low profile spoiler on the rear in place of the whale tail, which has a love it or hate it appeal on the standard top of the range variant.
Although there are no variants of Subaru WRX for sale currently offered with the EyeSight driver assist package, the updated 2016 model will feature Lane Keep Assist, with lane change assistance, rear cross traffic alert and blind spot detection will be available on some variants. However, specific details for the local market has yet to be released by Subaru Australia. According to David Rowley, national corporate affairs manager for Subaru Australia, the local arm of the Japanese auto brand has yet to receive any confirmed details for the 2016 WRX or WRX STi. This suggests that the updated models are at least several months away from hitting the local market.
